It's the end of the world as we know it...

Politics, philosophy, the law, current events, left leaning debates, religion, baseball, football, pop culture, growing up Greek, random events in my life...whatever hits my mind at the time.

Help!

I'm really uninspired with my music today. If it's not too much trouble, please give me an idea for a song that you think I might like too, so that I can download it. (Legally...iTunes people!) Something I otherwise wouldn't check out on my own. As we know, I don't do rap. But all else is ok. (Oh, and there isn't an REM song that I don't have, so don't bother with that - though I appreciate trying to think of what I'd like!) ;-)

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine sent me this one from an Austrailian group: TISM. Warning, it's one of those songs that you may want to pry out of your brain with a claw hammer after a few hours.

I love that song by that Hawaiian fellow that passed away. He does a mix if Over the Rainbow and It's a Wonderful WOrld. I believe it is just called Over the Rainbow. His name is Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole.

If I were to suggest any one song, the one that's stuck in my head at the moment is Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." If you love Green Day, you might like this song. If you hate Green Day, you might like this song.

I'm so out of touch pop music wise that I didn't even realize that Green Day was still a going concern, until my 13 year old daughter started talking about them. I started wondering how she could have heard about Green Day, then I realized that "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and the title track to "American Idiot" were both getting radio airplay. (Whatever happened to Kajagoogoo?)

Ah, now YOU have a song stuck in your head! Nyah nyah nyah nyah! :)

I've been posting about my LaunchCAST station all night, ignoring the wisdom that I should go to bed. On the turntable now - "I Need a Freak" from Electrocute.

Travis - band from Ireland. Songs like "Sing", "Why Does It Rain on Me", "Driftwood", "Writing to Reach You", "Flowers in the Window".
Ben Folds - Formerly known as Ben Folds Five. He has an amazing voice and all of his music kicks ass! Check out the album "Rockin' the Suburbs".
Jude - Local guy here in L.A. Many of his lyrics are hilarious like "The Asshole Song" and "Gay Cowboy". Others are pretty bittersweet like "I'm Sorry Now" and "I Do".
Other good songs: "Mr. Brightside" by the Killers. "Such Great Heights" by Postal Service. "Time is Running Out" and "Apocalypse Now" by Muse. Modest Mouse, String Cheese Incident, Funky Meters, Ozomatli, Black Eyed Peas, Jack Johnson, The Strokes, Guy Smiley Blues Exchange, Marc Cohen are all good bands/musicians to check out... :)
    Happy listening!!!!!
