It's the end of the world as we know it...

Politics, philosophy, the law, current events, left leaning debates, religion, baseball, football, pop culture, growing up Greek, random events in my life...whatever hits my mind at the time.

Homecoming Causes Homosexuality

Flamingo Jones reported that in Texas, a Homecoming generations old tradition where boys dress like girls and vice versa was cancelleled after a parent complained about the event's homosexual overtones.
As a substitute for "TWIRP Day," the schools ranging from
elementary to senior high decided to hold "Camo Day" -- with black boots and
Army camouflage to be worn by everyone who wants to participate. . . . "It's
like experimenting with drugs," Davies said. "You just keep playing with it and
it becomes customary. ... If it's OK to dress like a girl today, then why is it
not OK in the future?"
Shit. You have got to be kidding me. I can't even put it any better than she did: "So, as long as you're gay-hating, gun-toting, god-fearin' folk, you get to change long-standing school tradition to conform to your every nit-picky little whim."

Gak. Really, this is getting out of control. It's a fun tradition. It's supposed to play with stereotypes, you know, that only the man can ask the woman out. Oh, no, empowering women, what an awful tradition! And how dare they make anything fun?? Or social. I'd like to think this would happen only in Texas...but I fear not.

Sadly, I think they do view empowering women as an awful tradition...

There's a carnival in the town of Alost (Belgium) where many men dress as women on the last day. The thing about it is it's totally over the top, specially by the end of the night when the wigs are sagging and the make-up running. Hilarious. You'd have to be pretty uptight to read anything into it.
